At Design Interviews

Interview with ANNA MORAITOU : Frank Scott: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?. ANNA MORAITOU : I was inspired by a chess game and the alternation of white and black boxes. The idea was each one of these boxes to have a different size and colour so to set apart little things that usually are spread around our living room. .Frank Scott: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?. ANNA MORAITOU : I wanted this piece of furniture to interact with the room it would be placed in, by repeating these boxes on the wall or on the side. .Frank Scott: What are your future plans for this award winning design?. ANNA MORAITOU : To sell or lease the production rights, or sell it separately to individuals. I plan to use this award to promote other designs as well. .Frank Scott: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?. ANNA MORAITOU : This was a brainstorming idea and the drawings came out very quickly. I would say a couple of weeks. .Frank Scott: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?. ANNA MORAITOU : This design was commissioned by a family, looking for a "pop" coffee table with storage space.
